Cool story. Bit annoying Gevin asked as I was going to make that a backup conversation topic on Saturday in case of awkward silences. You could have pretended not to have seen it if you hadn't posted that reply. Still, there's plenty more on the subject to talk about than that if you're interested!...

One definition of 'best' would be which set used the least number of numbers in total to solve all 899, so count 2 if you can solve with 2 numbers up to 6 if you have to use all 6 ( does that make sense?). It's also something I could extract fairly easily. On that method, the 'best' set is 4, 7, 9,...

Brilliant final numbers solution from Rachel. S'what I was thinking. How did she do it? I missed today's show but I got the numbers off someone else who watched it. I did ((5+4)*9-5)*8+6 (I think - that's from memory) in about 30 seconds or so. The second one I got in about 30 seconds as well (didn...

MPs are likely to be too busy to be able to have much impact on their own constituency and while I wouldn't do away with local MPs, I think the idea of it is much bigger than the reality. 1,226 sets can solve any target between 101 & 999. I wonder if there's a way of splitting this up further to decide which is the "best". Maybe based on number of solutions (although as discussed previously, this isn't necessarily easy to define). Or maybe if you carry on past 999, whi...
