Re: Four 4s

(4!-4+sqrt(4))/.4 = 55
4!+4!+4+4 = 56
(4!-sqrt(4))/.4 + sqrt(4) = 57
(4!+4)*sqrt(4)+sqrt(4) = 58
(4!/.4)-(4/4) = 59
(4!+4)*sqrt(4)+4 = 60
(4!/.4)+(4/4) = 61
(4!/.4)+4-sqrt(4) = 62
(4!+sqrt(4))/sqrt(4)-sqrt(4) = 63
(4+4)*(4+4) = 64

Re: Four 4s

37 and 39 without the subfactorial:
4!+(4!+sqrt 4)/sqrt 4 = 37
44-(sqrt(4)/.4) = 39

Re: Four 4s

You can do 33 without recurring decimals:
4!+4+(sqrt(4)/.4)

Re: Four 4s

So we're not allowed the gamma function?
When I was set this at secondary school we were allowed:
Bidmas, factorial, decimal point.
I see we've taken indices out of the equation too. I'm going to do my best at being a purist and stick to just those.

Re: Bug reports

I've just found two more games that are also different, so we now have (at least) four different games being scored under the same duel. They do seem to share some rounds though. http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=72520 http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=72189 Any idea what's going on ...

Re: Bug reports

Reading through the Duel results for yesterday, I found these two games (which I noticed from the max markings in the full results table): http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=72188 http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=72403 They have different rounds in the second half of the game. Stick me in the U1000 (if I'm still eligible - ever hopeful I can increase my rating a bit!)
(If I'm not eligible, then the U1200. If I'm not eligible for that then some other, better, player has hacked my account and played for me.)

Re: Apterous League Tests

My games agains Ian: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=69246 http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=69235 The 15-rounder was a particularly good match and I felt lucky to win it. Just a thought - could there be a bonus point for getting a century in a game? A bit like points earned by rug...

Re: Apterous League Championship

I'd definitely be up for a league, I think it would be a good challenge. Players who didn't play in one season could be dropped to the entry league the season after (if they don't play at all it seems likely that they won't start again next season anyway). Promotions, Relegations, and Playoffs could...

Re: New feature announcements

How about (total score on all duels taken)/(sum of maximum scores on all duels taken) ?

NB By "score" I mean the duel points rather than the score in the actual game.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions - what were yours?

A slightly more serious answer. Well, question.

What do the different types of scoring mean?

Come to think of it I actually never found out the answer to that question.

Hello all :)

I've watched the game for years - thinking of applying... one day.

Thought I was pretty good until I watched my housemate (aka The Zussinator) play.
