I was thinking about this thread again for some reason. But something else I've just thought about is this: 100+3=103 and 100+2+1=3 Going by what I've said, these two are different. But if you do the 2+1 first and then do 100+3, surely there is no difference in identity between the 3s. So in a sense...

Not disagreeing with you, but ODO getting this right isn't a plus in its corner as much as a minus in the ODE's... it's just a really shit bit of dictionary compiling on behalf of the ODE. There's various tests statisticians might apply to the data, but like scientific tests in general, they'd really only be testing for whether it fails. You'd never say "yeah, it is random", but you might say "there's no particular reason to suggest it isn't random, so it could be"...
