Both of the losers of the S80 semifinals never declared a 9 during their time on the show. Is this the furthest any player has advanced without doing so, or do some runners-up (even winners?) fit the bill? (exc. CoC, Masters or special games). It's happened before many times. Congratulations to David on winning 8. With some numbers work he could certainly have a chance to advance beyond the QFs pending on who he would face. However, the series has been quite octo heavy already- so someone like Stephen probably will not stand a chance of being a finalist....

2. What is the longest string of centuries in preliminary games?- I would have thought that 9 in a row starting from Elliott Mellor's 1st game would be a contender. Good game. Whilst his numbers are still a tad patchy, I do think David can win 8 as his letters are much better than the average player. Felt for Martin, judging by his expressions during r14, I reckon he had it and then went wrong..... Definitely could have won himself a few v different players....

The quest for nine octochamps in a series took a hit today. Stephen was a good player, but his letters were nowhere near as good as his numbers.
