Just watched this and somewhat surprised I'm still in time to do the one-away-is-best 2nd numbers:
865 = ((100 + 2) x 9) - (50 + 75/25).

There was another game involving weights, just seen it again on Challenge. There are 5 hooks, up to 4 units distant from the balance pointer at the centre of the scales, and 5 weights of varying units. Instructions are to multiply distance by weight. It's pretty easy to work out what you need on bot...

Had 862 with an extra 30 seconds in the 2nd numbers. What was the nearest possible? RR said it was possible to get "a bit" nearer than 9 away.

Since I mentioned Martians earlier needing a capital, I remember earthlike being ok a few episodes ago. Checking the definition it can apply to things relating to the planet as well as soil, and indeed I find earthman is ok with a small e. Now I'm confused!

Bizarre numbers solve by Rachel at the end. If you're going to do 27×7 then it's 100-75+10/5 or 100-75+10-8. If you're going to start with 100+75, you might as well then add 14. 7×10/5 or 10+5-8+7.
