Well, when I did that show I hoped to use 2 letters for my numbers, so I was going to go J & R, obviously, but the capital R is hard to make with those 6 numbers. So, I went with K & C instead. But didn't she struggle to understand what you meant? What's wrong with "1 large and 5 small...

The Dutch pronunciation of the diphthong AU is more-or-less like Jeff said it. I think a number of Middle English vowels were much more like Dutch, so this could indeed be an accurate throw-back (as Charlie suggests). I actually meant the Greek τραυμα (wound), wherein αυ is pronounced "ow"...
