Re: Countdown in the news
Very nice article about rachel Riley on the back page of The Express today. Mentions being with her partner of five years..and the worst thing she had read about herself was that she used sun beds all day, because someone could see a UV light on. It was the light used for her pet lizard!

Re: Who Will Win 62?
Is it my imagination or has this series been particularly lack-lustre? No real stars in this lot, apart from Oliver. Nice to see a woman in the last group though.

"Just to clarify, the Countdown series champion wins the leather-bound OED which retails at £4,000 (but can be found on Amazon for £200 less)."
Nice prize too. I'd love to know where people actually put all those books. Must weigh a ton

Re: Jellyman's Thrown A Wobbly
Nope..not at all interested in football, unless it is David beckham in his calvins that is!
Thanks for the explanation boys, that makes it clearer. Good title for a book, I wonder why he hasn't shown it on Countdown. Maybe it is one of the prizes?

Re: Jellyman's Thrown A Wobbly
Why is he called jellyman?
I should imagine it is a good read..he has a good se4nse of humour on screen, very dry wit.
No slouch when it comes to getting the odd word or numbers game either.

Very nicely put Chris. Gosh it is hard to believe that it is four years since his demise.
Jeff and rachel have settled in very nicely, and series 60 has been good for the game.

Re: Dictionary Corner Guests for the new series
What a nasty site this is. Should I be surprised at the level of sarcasm on here? I think that some comments are unnecessary. "Did you ever teach capitalisation in your thirty years as a dispenser of wisdom? Basic literacy might help you garner some of this respect you demand." By the way ...

I always thought you were a nice lad when you were on Countdown. Just shows you. Bear in mind Sarcasm is the Lowest form of Wit! Maybe for retired footballer..I should have put retired sportsman. Silly me! No i am not ignorant..I have two degrees and taught in an inner city school for thirty plus ue...

Re: Dictionary Corner Guests for the new series
Well speaking as a very very long time Countdown viewer, I am glad that Jo Brand is on again. DC guests seem to be more and more stand up comedy corner guests. Didn't like Tim Vine actually, that comedy becomes wearing after a while, plus he showed a distinct lack of word knowledge. I see yet anothe...

Tim Vine this week..Would he be a relation of Jeremy Vine?
Martin Lewis.. They'll never shut him up..and at least we will hear him Jeremy Vine is always trying to get him to stop shouting.

Re: Defend Countdown (Daily Mail article)
I do have to say that it doesn't surprise me that viewers are being lost. I am an long term viewer who has stayed with the programme throughout all of the changes. I feel that it has lost its "Mojo" and its laid back easy atmosphere. There is an edge there now which was never there in the ...

Sorry..about the David Mitchell error on my part..I just looked him up on Wiki and that was where I got to.
"Spoiler" Why? we had already seen that programme.
Brian Capron next week..good I like him..something about his twinkly eyes.

Re: Dictionary Corner Guests
David Mitchell..just looked him up. Should have heard of him since he was born up the road from me in Southport. Read his book "Cloud Atlas" which was good but complicated. Phil Hammond..great I like him, he always cheers me up..very dry wit, and a naturally gifted storyteller. Has he got ...

Well said Kai. Patience is the name of the game here. When you have threads of 17 pages. and a lot of quotes, requotes and chat to wade through, it is inevitable that you will get the same points repeated frequently. I certainly didn't read all of the pages, or too many of the other threads either, ...

Hello Countdowners.. I am probably a bit out of place here amongst all you young and very young ones, but I am a Countdown lover. I have watched the show from its conception, and all the changes. Some good some not so good. Thoughts on the new format: Don't like the fact that they don't show the wor...
