This would be great. You could rate each death by certain weighted criteria (e.g. UK notability, worldwide notability, surprisingness of death) and see if 2016 really is such a bad year, or if it's just confirmation bias/recency effect.

I'm not convinced by the format. Having the league bit just means that the final is always guaranteed to be a match-up we've already seen. And if they're going to spend all that time giving losing robots a chance to carry on, then they shouldn't have that quick elimination thing in the first round....
