Re: Monday 21 January 1985 (Series 6, Prelim 11)

Having communicated with Mike over this, he stands by PREACHING as being the conundrum for this show. He has notes, and my own (which I've kept to this day in my Shorter Oxford Dictionary) doesn't include a note of the conundrum, so I suppose I have no proof other than my presence there on the day w...

These were my offerings in today's daily duel - all, apparently, incorrect. No alternatives offered.

NOWEAUTNL - OUTLAW

Re: New numbers interface: Your comments please

OK, I've tried a numbers attack now, and I think I have figured out how it works. I must admit, I can see the advantages, and it does look pretty cool, what with the whiteboard and everything. So, I was hasty, what can I say? Just a bit of a shock coming across it for the first time in a daily duel...

Re: New numbers interface: Your comments please

I totally agree with Ross. I came across the new numbers format on the duel and would have got two out of the three if I knew just how the hell it works. I am going to have to go back and do a numbers attack to see if I can figure it out, but not impressed so far... maybe I'll get it in the end, I'l...

Surely it's about context in the end. "Queer" has a meaning other than that of a homophobic taunt, just as the word "gay" has a meaning in no way related to sexuality. "Poofter" means what it says and is offensive when used to label or taunt someone because of their sex...

I have bombed out on a couple numbers games after clicking on the wrong number in error - the sort of 'slip of the mouse' you could get away with on the show, but there doesn't seem to be any way of changing your choice. I'm not suggesting you should be able to start again from scratch, but is there...

You have my sympathies - I was diagnosed with kidney stones at the age of 33. I was told that I was prone to them - they called me a "stone farmer", but so far I have not been offered an EU grant to keep growing them. Are you going to have lithotripsy? That's a bundle of laughs, too.
