Re: Ask Graeme?
I was checking the same thing. 3 3 2 2 1 1 25 50 75 100 has a total of 400 impossible targets. Most of them are above 600 as you'd expect, but the impossible targets below 300 are 213, 237, 257, 263, 266 and 268. The worst targets with that fill pattern are 787, 788, 789, 811, 812, 813 and 814, wher...

Re: Ask Graeme?
At a Co-event, suppose somebody were to use the deck of small number cards as a target generator (without replacement) before/after drawing the 6 numbers, you end up with some selections which are not possible. 100, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 -> 666 (There aren't three 6 cards to draw for the target) 100, 9, 9,...

Re: Supernundrums
What's nerdier than supernundrums? Supernundrums that work in two languages! Going by the apterous dictionaries, there are 48 conundrum scrambles that have a valid English solution and a valid Welsh solution. The nine below form a supernundrum in both languages. Solutions in links below. Thanks to F...

Some more niche records: Most 100+ point wins: 5 so far Aggregate winning margin: Current record is Dylan's 628, Elliott's on 763. He'd need to lose by 136 points to not have this record. Lowest aggregate score by opponents: 165 after 7 games, will almost certainly be a record. I think the record is...

Fair enough, the lad done good. Better player won.
I chickened SIGNORIA, but that wouldn't have changed anything. The important thing is that we both got all the numbers games, so mathematics as a profession remains alive and well.

R2 had RESHINED, which isn't in Lexplorer but is in ODO under RESHINE. Susie mentioned it during filming but it was edited out.

I chickened TEAHOUSE as well as MORALISER. In different cirumstances I probably would have risked them both.
Still got 8 maxes though. James had some excellent spots (CATHOUSE in particular) that made the game more interesting as well.

Re: So, who will be the founding member of Countdown's "1000 CLUB"?
Now that my run's aired (spoilers follow to warn those who haven't seen the episodes), I thought I'd include some more stats and opinions on how likely 1000 is to happen. (SPOILERS FOLLOW) I ended up getting 915 - a good octototal, but obviously nowhere near 1000. Full stats are: Score - 915 Maxes -...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 10 May 2017 (Series 76, Prelim 86)
I believe my exact words in the 1000 Club thread were "Is it possible for me... ...to score 1000+ when we go on the show? Technically yes, in the same way that it's technically possible for Reading to win this year's FA Cup." At this point I'd like to point out that Reading lost 4-0 to Man...

Re: Spoilers for Monday 8th May 2017
I don't know of any way to check the date. I ran everything through Lexplorer immediately after filming, so if anything better comes up when I check the games as they air then it's probably a new word.

Spoilers for Monday 8th May 2017
A few beaters around today - AILETTE in r1, ARREARS in r2, MOBOCRAT in r12.
The new dictionary update also gives FUGISES in r11, but as I recorded this game back on February 21st (two days before the update), it wouldn't have been allowed then.

I've talked myself into it again. Making an early birthday weekend of it, and I'll join in the parkrun too. See if I can go a bit faster this year.

Re: So, who will be the founding member of Countdown's "1000 CLUB"?
Read through this thread with interest, and seeing as I've been playing a lot of Mocktoruns recently, and I'm currently waiting on a recording date, I thought I'd include some data of my own to illustrate just how difficult/luck-based an octototal of 1000 actually is to score. Since the start of Nov...

Re: CO:parkrun Recaps
That explanation makes sense. I did notice that coming back down after the hairpin turn, my watch got confused with pacing, indicating a much slower pace than I was actually running. Didn't pay too much attention to the distance at that part, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was also confused about...

Finally got round to making an account here. I've been on apterous for a number of years, gone to one Co event (Leeds), with hopefully more coming up if I can get to them.
