The Cheltenham Festival
I know that this past week, Countdown was abbreviated due to the Cheltenham Festival Of all shows, why would it affect Countdown and why would Deal or No Deal still be on? On a side note, in my part of the US, they pre-empt The Price is Right with Drew Carey (another one of my favorite shows,) for a...

Ok.
Maybe that will do the trick.
My mom has a cold right now, and we haven't had a chance to speak for pleasure, but I'm sure we will soon.
By the way, I think she caught mine from last week.

I'm glad to hear that, Mikey.
Also, it would be very interesting if there was an American Countdown contestant on in the near future.
If it were me, I would tell Des O'Connor that I admire him and tell him that I know he appeared on American TV 50 years ago, which he did.

If the game is going to change and get harder out of nowhere, that's the way to do it.
So, in other words all of you loyal friends are saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Without question, I think the Winker stands as my choice to host Countdown here in America. Ironically, I did not start watching Countdown on a regular basis until Des O'Connor became the host, so David O'Donnell and Jason Cullen are the only ones I know here by face and voice.

I also didn't know that a game show host being introduced with an upward inflection is strictly an American practice.
