Re: Is this the oldest ever Countdown related forum topic?

Keith Bennett posted in one of those threads as well - the same Keith Bennett that's on here? I don't know, but it's amusing to see that he thought Richard Stilgoe was dead 20 years ago! Still very much alive at the age of 73. (Although Spike Milligan and Michael Bentine have both sadly passed away...

While I'm visiting the forum, does anyone have details of the time slots in which Countdown has been scheduled since it's been on the air? It's moved around quite a lot. DANGLER doesn't give you any stations at all. For a word to produce a tubewhack there has to be a unique station containing no letters from that word. So DANGLE gives you Bow Church.

    Re: Calling All Wannabe Recappers!!

Well yes, Andy, it looks as though you actually did more Friday recaps in the last series than he did (five to his three). And I thought it was pretty damn cheeky of him to post the Grand Final recap late on Sunday evening headed "forgetting recap duty since 2012". You'd have thought he'd ...

Who was meant to do Friday's recap? It hasn't appeared.

Re: Logic Puzzle: The Case of the Missing Countdown Episodes

I gave up twice believing it to be insoluble, but I think I've got it now! Very well written and put together. Monday: 89-40 against Chris. Tuesday: 77-58 against Dave. Wednesday: 94-84 against Bob, including 10 points for a tie-break conundrum. Thursday: 109-90 against Alison. Friday: 86-79 against...

If the challenger left shortly after the recording to attend to a family member who was ill, it's quite possible the programme may have been pulled if that person died. The contestant may have requested it not to be broadcast. This has happened before on other programmes. I remember it happened a f...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday July 3rd 2013 (Series 69 Prelim 2

So apparently our contestant is Steve Grimble, who won "yesterday", and also played in Series 11 but lost. I do not believe Nick said what his score was in his first game. Obviously this show was meant to go out today as it is Tracy Emin's birthday, but they were talking like this was the...

    Re: Pointless - polling methodology

[how are the 100 people chosen?] What Richard actually said was "it's a complete cross-section of the population, they don't know they're being polled for Pointless". I've looked into this further and neither of the two statements above appears to be completely true. The polling is done by...

I agree with you Andy, I think it was just a nice touch that everyone seemed to take in the right spirit. Congratulations anyway. I couldn't help noticing that if the I had been an E in the first round there would have been a nine-letter ARSEHOLES. What would they have done if someone had declared i...
