Might turn out to be a wise ploy by Callum to go 1L. Not sure it's such a good idea to sit back in your chair when you've got a 9 though. Better to pretend to your opponent that you're still looking for words, like Dylan did. Otherwise your opponent knows you've got a 9 and only needs bother looking...

OK, not too far out then. I wasn't sure whether to count a max when you get 7 points for an impossible numbers but it is possible to get closer. Giles did this a couple of times and I counted them as maxes.

I also felt at times the letters may have been kinder to Giles, so he would score higher. Unlucky Mark. It's difficult coming up against someone who's already got a few wins behind them but you put in a good performance. There wasn't much in it on the letters rounds but Joe seems to be especially strong on the numbers, as his brilliant spot in round 9 showed.

Thanks for the positive comments. As Andy said, I did indeed declare WANKED in Round 2 but they edited it out and asked me to declare WANTED instead. Andy may have been disappointed but I think my Mum watching in the audience was quite relieved!

I agree with the general consensus that either deliberately keeping people apart or deliberately pitting certain contestants against each other would be the wrong thing to do. The info for contestants that the Countdown team sends out suggests that it's pretty much random who gets drawn against who....
