An American game show fan. I have nothing to do with organizing or producing these events, if that's what you're wondering.

Re: Countdown is apparently...

I feel sort of terrible now, as that's the group behind the 24 Hour Game Show Marathon I kept mentioning. I knew they weren't taking it completely seriously, but didn't know they went that far... Another 24 Hour Game Show Marathon is in August - http://www.homegameenterprizes.com/strategicon.html Co...

Re: Countdown for Comic Relief

Rachel was there? Great, now I'm even more unhappy I missed the live stream.

I'm very sorry I didn't donate after promising I would. I'm assuming it's too late now!

Re: Countdown for Comic Relief

So just to clarify, what time tomorrow do the 25 hours start? Of course, I'm in America, so it will be five hours earlier for me... No love for the American 24 Hour Game Show Marathon I mentioned earlier? They're doing Countdown as one of their games (along with 23 other game shows, most of which th...

Re: Countdown for Comic Relief

While we're on the topic of charity game show marathons, I thought I'd bring up another one coming up soon in America. They've only had three donors so far (one of which is me), so hopefully you guys can contribute... http://24hourgsm.pacdudegames.com As for the Countdown marathon, I might pitch in....

Re: Countdown Ticket Procedures - December 2011

Thanks James. Saralee has since emailed me back and stated that they won't be taping at all in December...but January is a possibility...

My next question would have been "Who would be the host be if I were to go?" but I get the feeling the answer is "We don't know."

Countdown Ticket Procedures - December 2011

I might be in the UK in late December\early January and want to see Countdown live. I have sent an email to Saralee Mullan, who is listed on the Channel 4 website as the audience coordinator for Countdown. As she has yet to reply, I thought I'd run my questions by the "experts": How does o...

Re: Australian Countdown!

My thoughts: Gameplay: Letters, Letters, Numbers, Break (complete with Teaser), Letters, Letters, Numbers, Break, Letters, Numbers, Conundrum. Feels a little short, but the order of the rounds is the least of my worries. Hosts: Richard Morecroft annoyed me a little, but that could just be because he...

Re: Australian Countdown!

Well, I was only off by two months. "Letters And Numbers" will premiere on Monday, August 2 on Australia's SBS1. The host is Richard Morecroft (an Australian newscaster, as far as I can tell), Lily Serna is filling the Rachel role, and Dictionary Corner is David Astle. Assuming I can track...

Re: Australian Countdown!

In response to what Kirk Bevins said...Thank you Kirk, but I didn't mean a big money tournament game...I meant a big money TV game show. I can't speak for every country, but in America right now, it seems that every new game show has to follow the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire\Deal Or No Deal huge j...

Re: Australian Countdown!

Alas, SBS is a government-run channel, and I think that means no cash prizes.

On a related note, if you can come up with a viable way to make Countdown a big-money game, I'd love to know it. That's probably the only way it will ever get on TV in America!

Australian Countdown!

I've only posted on here a few times, but I'm surprised nobody has found this yet... SBS is launching our favorite letters and numbers game in Australia! Ticket Procedures

I'm an American who is a big fan of game shows and Countdown (and am new on this board). If I'm ever in England, I want to see the show live. Not wanting to waste a journey to Leeds, I have a few questions. 1. How much do tickets to Countdown cost, 2. Do they guarantee admittance, and 3. If a ticket...
