Re: Spoilers for Thursday 22nd January (CofC XIII QF1)

I'd just like to say how magnanimous I felt David was in defeat. He always congratulated his opponent, especially after his 9 letter spot, and was still cracking jokes on the last numbers game, even though he knew he was beaten by then.

Todays and tomorrows shows were actually recorded in the morning, ( being the last shows of the current series), with the quarter-finals starting in the afternoon,so he would have missed the cut-off point.

I would put the following quotes into Room 101: This is yet another example of American culture being inflicted upon us. You sound like Anne Widdecombe. How do you know what I sound like? I've never spoken to you. Does anyone else agree, that this 'celebration' takes away something from our ...

I have more than a few things I would like to put into Room 101- Shopping Centres being very near the top of the list- but right at the top would be Harry Enfield. The man is a talentless gurning twat with possibly the most punchable face in the whole of the UK. A few years ago, I would have...

What would you put into Room 101?

I bring up this subject now, because one of my pet hates, in fact something I hate with a passion, is now almost upon us; namely Halloween. Why is it, that on one day of the year, people are allowed to basically demand money with menaces, and get away with it? Perhaps I should try it at my lo...

Jeff Stelling taking over from Des? Whatever next? Who will take over from Carol? Maths Le Tissier? To sum up, and without wishing to take away anything from Maths Le Tissier, I think his appointment might divide opinion. However, his selection would certainly add interest, and could easily multipl...

Terrestrial Channel 4, show repeats 2 days later, usually between 5.00am and 6.00am. For example Thursday 2nd October show, is being shown on Sunday 5th morning at 5.10am. Be careful though when looking in the schedules, as listings for anything up to 6.00am are usually shown in the previous days sc...

Re: Have you ever cried at Countdown?

This is going to sound a bit naff, but yes I cried when my Son Lee lost his 4th show. Because of Carol's illness and the subsequent late recording of programmes, Lee's 4th show was recorded on the same day that his 1st show went out on TV. He rang to say he had lost just as his 1st show was about to...

Not as impressive as I would have liked Charlie. One of the first things I did was add and take away 25 from the total, and realising 891 was divisable by 9 I tried myself to get 99 from the remaining numbers and failed miserably!

Re: Spoilers for Thursday 18th of September

After playing around for the last hour-hour since the show ended, I finally managed to get the 2nd numbers game! I would suspect there is an easier answer but I haven't found it. Anyway here goes: 9 x 10 + 25 = 115 x 8 = 920 - 54 ( 9 x 6) = 866.

It just goes to show how many ways there are to solve these numbers games. I had a much more complicated version for the R5 100 + 25 - 8 = 117 x 7 = 819 -10 -5!! Way out of time too!
