Calling all quiz enthusiasts in the South East

I've noticed that there seems to have been an upturn in apterous's general appetite for quizzing in the last six months or so. Do any of you fancy playing in the quiz league of London summer friendly league? There's a couple of days left to sign up. It's a bit different from the normal team pub quiz...

Re: Spoilers For Friday December 13th 2013

Great game, really tense. Countdown finals is capable of providing genuine television drama at times, there's clearly a lot at stake for the contestants on a personal level. crucial conundrums with stuff like people buzzing in correctly, it really is edge of your seat stuff when you don't know the r...

Nope, you're unique with that. :-)
What's the second most games an octochamp's been behind in?

Great stuff Graeme!

Re: Ask Graeme?

Bit of a narcissistic Ask Graeme post this, it came up when we were chatting after CoRea. I'm aware I'm the third lowest total scoring octochamp ever, I was wondering if I have any other rather negative accolades. For starters, in my first game I had my first two words disallowed (caribous and goldi...

This championship has been brilliant. I've been genuinely excited to watch Countdown every day for the last couple of weeks. Just endless really close games going down to crucials between the very best of all time. Conor is extremely calm and cool, has an incredible talent for the game, certainly th...

Re: Spoilers for Thursday January 17th 2012 (Birthday Prelim

bit of a shame neither of them shook hands, would've been nice to see Saw them both shake hands (twice) before both conundrums - even if they didn't at the end I'm sure there was total respect for each other :) Mauro Was a joke. They shook hands three times from what I saw. Felt like by the last ha...

Re: Spoilers For The Stelling Swansong (Series 65 Grand Fina

What a brilliant game. I had no idea about the result. I was cheering on Carl a bit just because I'd like to see a non-Apterite win a series at some point (if he is a non-Apterite?) but couldn't help feeling massively pleased for Graeme when I saw how relieved he was when he knew he'd spotted GALVAN...

Re: Names of foreign versions of Countdown

There used to be (and maybe there still is) a Basque version called Hitz Eta Pitz (I think that's how it was spelt - I only picked up a few words of Euskara). You'd think the Basque folk would want to keep quiet about Eta, all things considered. Don't know about that, many of them would want to be ...

Names of foreign versions of Countdown

I've been doing a bit of couchsurfing hosting, and a couple of times have had people ask me why I've got a teapot shaped like a clock and a bit of card with my own name on it in my living room. Explaining what Countdown is can be quite tricky, but it's easy if, say, they're French, and I can just sa...

Hi folks. I've been playing on apterous for a while, this is my second post ever on the forums. Now I've recorded on the show, I'm keen to enter any of the online tournaments that are going on, including variants. Where's the best place to look out for those? They seem to be scattered around a littl...
