Re: Suggest A Better Guideline for Plural Noun Conundrums
I do have an issue with DROPPINGS given that DROPPING exists as a word and it's irrelevant to Countdown that it is an entirely different meaning. The guideline is that "noun + S does not equal conundrum", but you're right it doesn't outright say it in those terms.

Re: What causes easy misses
There's two elements to this game - knowing words and spotting words. I always tell people that don't bother about losing rounds to obscure words you've never heard of when you've missed obvious alternatives: no use complaining you've never heard of NARCOTISED when REDACTIONS was there. But honestly...

On a separate note, what's with NATO countries spending 5% on defence ? Is this just scaremongering, or is it really necessary? The longest run of unsolved conundrums, by either of the two variations on the question, is 6. In light of recent events:
How many rounds have had 2 or 6 vowels (and indeed other non-standard numbers (0, 1, 7, 8, 9) if these values exist)?
How many of these instances have slipped through since 1995 (and the 3V 4C rule)?
If a manageable number, could these please be listed?
