It always surprises me that when contestants can get near the target by multiplying the large number by something they fail to see that all they need to do is adjust the multiplicand by using one of the small numbers, as Rachel showed in the first and third numbers rounds here.

Yes - it looked as if MILEPOST + A was going to come to something - "epistomal" perhaps, as EPISTOME is OK, and you'd expect the related adjective to exist, as PERISTOME/PERISTOMAL are listed.

so why should non-tea drinkers be expected to faff about with tea? Because to make an adequate cup of tea, you literally put a bag in a cup then pour water on it. But what foreigners don't understand that the only way to get it right is that it must be BOILING water - as my mum said 'take the pot t...

You only need a maximum of four colours to make a political map of the world without any adjacent countries having the same colour Is this still true when considering exclaves and colonies that aren't connected to the countries' main landmasses (e.g., Sint Maarten as part of the Netherlands)? I guess that the Clegg wanted the Liberal Democrats to get into government to try to introduce a fair voting system, and was forced to drop the manifesto commitment on fees, being prevented from opposing the Tory policy as a condition of joining with them. Of course, the Conservatives could see that...

I was hoping for GAMBITTED in the last letters round, but the verb isn't in the OED, though Chambers does have it.
I wondered about that and also wondered whether GAMBITTED or GAMBITED was more realistic.
I've checked what Scrabble allows, and there's only GAMBITED :(

The exit fans are still up to their old tricks of relying on half-truths to justify their narrow-minded proposals, claiming that 52% gives them a mandate to do whatever they like. The fact is that the actual votes were 37.6% leave, 34.6% stay, 27.8% didn't/couldn't decide, so it is by no means true ...
